Parable #1 : Daskalo - I Honour My Roots
Daskalo Greek | Model
My life over the past 3 years has been radical. It has been extreme and very different from anything that has come before that. I was living and working as a dietician in London for 7 years, my last year there I started modelling on the side. I got a message on Facebook from a scouter in Brazil asking me if I would be interested to travel and model abroad. Of course I said yes! I got my 3 month visa and my first destination which ended up lasting for 3 years was Mumbai, India. It was a rollercoaster of unforgettable experiences, big lessons and a completely different perspective of living.
The paradox was that although I created a new life, new friends, new family and a new home, I chose to honour my roots and home country. I lived in Mumbai, I made a career for my self in Modelling, I completed an acting course and took part in 3 Bollywood movies, 1 Tollywood movie and a web series called the Insiders from the TVF channel on youtube coming out later this year. I was thrilled to work and to do things that would never have come my way had I stayed back in London or returned back to my home country, Greece. Never the less, the time came for me to leave all this behind, even if temporarily and to honour my country to serve the Greek military. The military service is mandatory and every Greek man has to give service to his country for 9 months. Had I wanted to, I could have avoided this and stayed with the lifestyle I had created but it didn’t feel right to turn my back to what and where I am from. Now I am back in Greece, starting my service in 2 weeks and being proud of my self. The future is long and short at the same time. Within the next 9 months whilst in the army I hope to figure out what my plans in life shall be. Will they be radical? With a lot of paradoxical moments in it? Let’s see..
